Seminar for St.Bede’s & Dominic Savio School Teaching Staffs

Seminar was conducted for the teachers of St.Bede’s and Dominic Savio by Dr. Rishi a specialist in global stress management on 1st June 2010. He explained the courses of stress in teachers and students. He taught us how to convert negative stress into positive stress. The next speaker was Mr. Girish Ponday – Director of income Tax. He spoke on the importance of teachers and the role they play in the life of the students. He also said stress on development of I. Q, Emotional Quotient and most important spiritual Quotient. He suggested some methods to develop all three.

Team from Don Bosco Vazhikatti took over at 10 a.m. Rev. Fr. John Christy SDB spoke on “Celebration of Self” and how we are unique and that each student is special and must be treated as such. Rev. Fr. Leo SDB the Director of Vazhikatti gave us points on “How to be an effective Teacher”. The seminar took a break for lunch at 1 pm and return 2 pm.

The afternoon session started with Mr. Rajesh who spoke on “Career Guidance” and “Career Planning”. The second Part of the afternoon session was conducted by Rev. Fr. Bosco who had been the Director of Vazhikatti. He explained on how we should deal with students while citing examples for the scripture. This ended by 3.45 pm.

Health & Hygiene Seminar for Stds. 6 to 8

A seminar on Health and Hygiene was conducted for Stds.VI to IX on 12th June 2010. The seminar conducted by Dr. Ashok and Dr. Ganesh. Dr. Ashok spoke on how we should protect our self from sun burns and heat stroke and how to keep the classrooms clean and personal cleanliness. Dr. Ganesh spoke about how accidents take place and how it can be prevented and what first aid can be administered to save a life. He interacted well with the boys and cleared their doubts. The final session was conducted by a group of dieticians and Miss. Priyanka. Through power point presentation they made the students understand the importance of eating nutrition’s food and to say no to junk food.

103rd House Inauguration Progrmme - June 2010

The Inauguration of the House System for the academic session 2010-11 was held on Saturday the 18th June 2010. The impressive investiture ceremony for the 103rd scholastic year of the institution was presided over by Rev.Fr. Jaya Prakash Reddy SDB,Principal, Dominic Savio Higher Secondary School, Thiruppathur, Vellore District. He administered the oath of office to the School Pupil Leader, Assistant School Pupil Leader and the Captains, Vice Captains, Secretaries of the Tamil and English Literary Associations and the Cultural Secretary.

A splendid display of marching skills was presented by the students drawn from the four Houses of Lions, Tigers, Eagles, Hawks and the School Band in the March Past that followed the swearing in ceremony. The chief Guest Rev. Fr. Jaya Prakash Reddy took the salute and the Lions House was adjudged the best March Past contingent and presented a Rolling Trophy. Master. Joe Moses Raj, the School Pupil Leader in his acceptance speech thanked the Rector and Headmaster for the faith they have reposed in him and sought the cooperation of expectations of the management. Master. Isiah Berlin Lionel, the Assistant school Pupil Leader proposed the vote of thanks. The strains of the National Anthem rendered by the School Band brought the curtain down on the elegant function.

St.Bede’s - Kamaraj Feast

Kamaraj Feast was celebrated as “Kalvi Thirunaal” by the teachers and students of the Tamil Literary Association on 15th July 2010. The Photo of Kamaraj was garlanded by the Headmaster and Kuthuvillaku was lighted by management teachers and students. The life and works of Kamaraj was spoken about by the Students. The cultural programme ended with a song and dance by the senior boys.

English Literary Association Inauguration

The Inauguration of the English Literary Association in the School Auditorium on 15th July 2010. The Programme started with a prayer song sung by the School Choir. This was followed by the Welcome address delivered by Mr. Gregory Co-ordinator of the ELA. The cultural event started off with the Dramatic Narration Competition for classes IX & X and followed by shipwreck for classes XI & XII. Rev. Fr. Headmaster gave the Inaugural Address and distributed the prize to the winners of the Competitions. The vote of thanks was delivered by Master. David Vijay Thomas Secretary of the ELA. The programme ended with the singing of the School Anthem.

103rd Annual Athletic Meet – July 2010

The 103rd annual sports day of St. Bede`s was held on Saturday 10th of July, 2010 at St. Bede`s ground. Mr. K. Periaiah, I.P.S., Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mylapore was the chiefguest for the Inaugural function.
The Athletic Meet began at 8.30 am welcoming the chiefguest with a solemn procession lead by the school band. After invoking the blessing of the almighty with a prayer song, the school flag was hoisted.

Then the chief-guest was taken around for troop inspection followed by march-past by the contingents of the four houses along with the school band. Rev. Fr. Arulanandam, the Rector, welcomed the gathering with his warm words and also spoke about the advantages of sports.The Olympic torch was then taken in a procession and then the chief-guest gave his message and declared the sports meet open. The School Pupil leader lead the sports man prayer and the students took the oath to participate in the events in a fair and loyalmanner.

Students of 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th standard performed some gymnastics which were well prepared and wonderfully done. It was a show that really needed and had skill, courage and training. The athletic events were conducted soon after the gymnastics. The students of the primary section had their games while the senior students had 100m, 200m and 400m. During the events Mr. K. Dinesh Kaarthik and Mr. R. Ashwin, Indian Cricketers and old Bedeans arrived.

In order to appreciate the work done and the support given, some games were conducted for the teachers, parents, old bedeans and the non-teaching staff also and prizes were given for the winners. The relay race was the last event to be held and one could see how the boys tried their best to put their teams on the victory stand and win accolades for their house.

After this the closing ceremony of the sports day began with the address by the head master. Mr. K. Dinesh Kaarthik and Mr. R. Ashwin were the chief-guests for the closing ceremony. The chief-guest distributed the prizes and the trophies for the winners and also addressed the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by Master Isaiah Berlin, the assistant school pupil leader. The flag was then lowered, carried in a procession by the captains of the four houses, folded and handed over to the School pupil leader, who then gave it to the chief-guest who gave it to the head master. The national anthem was finally played by the band with which the sports day came to an end.

It was a beautiful and bright day. We know that sport is an inalienable part of the educational process and a factor for promoting peace, friendship, cooperation and understanding among people and sports build character. On sports day we prove the same. The entire morning celebration went on well by the grace of God. Many parents and well-wishers had turned up to support and encourage the students. There was a beautiful co-ordination of the entire programme. The teachers, especially the PT masters had done their duty well.
