RULES AND REGULATIONS

ATTENDANCE

  1. Regular attendance is a key requisite for a good student and St. Bede’s attaches much importance to it. A special certificate is awarded to students with a hundred percent attendance.
  2. Pupils must be punctual for class. Late comers should enter the class only with written permission, having entered the matter in the Handbook. Attendance will not be given to late-comers for the morning session. Repeated late comers will warrant more serious penalties, such as being asked to return home.
  1. No pupil may absent himself without obtaining leave previously, in writing. If for any grave reason a pupil is absent without prior leave, on his return he must present a letter from the parent stating the reason for absence and obtain permission before entering the class. For absence of more than 5 days the parent himself must meet the Headmaster with the pupil.
  2. A pupil who is absent for five consecutive days without prior leave will have his name struck off the rolls. He will not be re-admitted as a matter of course. If he is readmitted, he shall pay a penalty of Rs. 500/-
  3. All applications for leave should be made in writing with the signature of the parent or legal guardian of the pupil and should reach the Headmaster before the commencement of the class. Oral or phone message will not be accepted.
  4. Pupils who attend the morning session should themselves obtain prior leave if they intend to absent themselves in the afternoon. The letter of the parent is necessary for such leave unless the pupil takes ill during school hours.
  5. Pupils must return to school on the RE-OPENING DAY after every long vacationns. Absence on the first day of a term or after holidays such as Christmas, Deepavali, Ramzan Michaelmas, Pongal, School Annual Day, School Sports Day and the like will be punishable with a fine of Rs.500/- in addition to Rs.50/- per day of absence and will be entered into the pupils record. Only in case of sickness, leave may be obtained before class commences and a Medical certificate produced on return.
  6. Every pupil is expected to be present on all important days of the school such as School Annual Day, School Sports Day, Etc., to express his solidarity with and his love for the Alma Mater.
  7. Seminars and other co-curricular activities are very important for the growth of the pupils character. Hence attendance is compulsory on all these days.
  8. The pupil who has absented himself for more than three days with prior permission must on his return, obtain permission in writing from the Headmaster to re-enter the class.
  9. Leave, absence and mark statement, books read late attendance record of the pupils must be always kept up-to-date.
  10. Absenting oneself for the sake of studying for examination is not permitted.
